Who am I

I am a passionate engineer and researcher; and to keep myself sane from my day job as a technology analyst in the defence sector, I make things in my shed. I have a PhD in mechanical engineering, a double degree in mechanical engineering specializing in automotive engineering and a computer science. So I enjoy everything from designing automotive pieces to building home severs.

I got the car bug from my brother in my early teenage years, who is a great mechanic by the way. He taught me a lot and now blames me as an engineer for the way some things are designed and assembled. I did a small stint during my undergraduate days at Holden’s Vehicle Operations plant in the quality engineering group. That was a job I enjoyed and made me happy to go to work every day; and since then, I have struggled to find that feeling again in this country that no longer manufacture everything.

Currently, I am in the process of a resto-mod on a genuine 1987 Holden VL Calais 5.0L V8. So the products that will slowly fill the stores catalogue will predominantly be for first generation commodores. The theme for this build is updating the car to current times, while still having that late 80 style.

Previously, I have built a 1987 Holden Berlina with a LS1 and T56 combination, before the whole LS swap craze. When you could not just buy everything to make it a simple engine swap. That car was Advance Headers’ dummy car for their headers for a VL with an LS engine. That car was my daily drive for two years while I was a PhD student, before it was sadly stolen.

My friends have told me that I should document more of my builds and this site will also document my builds and things that I have designed, both automotive and not.
